Dining out and snacks Dinner was at @jeremysonthehill and I enjoyed the Friday night chicken special which is a fried chicken breast, Mac and cheese, braised red cabbage and mashed potatoes. It is served with a draft beer of choice so I picked the @nickelbeerco stout. As an appetizer Jeremy hooked up the table with an order of Brussels, which is the dish that got us hooked going there since our first visits to Julian 15+ years ago. Lunch was some leftover pulled pork and Mac and cheese from Pete’s, a few chips, and a slice of sourdough. Snacks included jerky and a @questnutrition bar.

National Grilled Cheese Day! Today is national grilled cheese day and here is how I make my grilled cheese. Start with fresh homemade sourdough. This loaf has @cabotcreamery Vermont cheddar and fresh green onions baked into the bread. Preheat a griddle to medium low heat and butter both sides of the bread. Make sure that when you assemble the cheese is on the correct side! Load your favorite cheeses on to each half. I went with three slices each of Cabot Vermont cheddar and pepper jack cheese. Cover with a lid, dome or bowl to help the cheese melt. Once nice and melty; and your bread is starting to brown, add any toppings you like. I went with bacon! Normally I would add some grilled onions too but the bread had onion baked in already. Cook a little longer to warm the bacon and then remove and assemble! BLT, burrito and bread. Ok that’s a stretch but eh, all three started with B. Breakfast was this @redsfoods carne asada and poblano burrito, toaster oven cooked. Lunch was some sourdough and chicken breast deli meat. Afternoon snack was jerky sticks. Dinner was a BLT. Making your own bread and bacon makes for a next level BLT. Workout done. And @artemis.moto.photo had the brilliant idea of an extra half mile with a sandbag up a hill… So there was that too.

Burger, loaded salad and protein Dinner is this classic bacon cheeseburger. I grilled the burger over a @bearmountainbbq bold blend flame, with the bacon cooking on the rack above the burger. Dripping goodness on the beef patty below. A sesame seed bun sandwiches some iceberg lettuce, 1/3lb beef patty, Gouda cheese, @grillospickles pickles, home cured bacon a slice of tomato and some mustard. Lunch was a @yourtaylorfarms chopped salad topped with pecan smoked spicy tri tip and a bit of extra ranch. Snacks for the day were jerky sticks and a @questnutrition overload bar. Great workout to get those lungs going again after being sick. Not at 100% yet but making progress. A giant bowl of spaghetti and a steak sandwich should heal me Steak sandwich for lunch. Fresh sourdough, Cabot Vermont cheddar, spicy @bearmountainbbq pecan smoked tri-tip and a bit of ranch to cook things down. Paired with @questnutrition chips. Snack was a built bar puff. Dinner a giant bowl of spaghetti with a ground turkey meat sauce. Served with a garlic Parmesan toast. Made with a smoked garlic butter and Parmesan cheese. It’s awesome to use that bear mountain smoke to give the garlic extra flavor and using a fruit wood brings out all the sweetness of the garlic, I do this in big batches and then freeze them! #protein #health #recovery #bearmountainbbq #steaksandwich #spagetti
